The industrial zone of 52 ha, located on a flat field near Kuršėnai, the biggest town of Siauliai district (14,5 thousand inhabitants), has been started to be formed in order to create good investment possibilities for Lithuanian and foreign businessmen to establish business companies. The Council of Siauliai District foresees big privileges for new businessmen: all new companies, which will start their activities in Siauliai district and create no less that 3 working places, will be exempted from the land tax and property tax (1% value of property) 5 years.

            Currently the most developed branches of traditional agriculture are growing of mushrooms, berries, rapes and flax. Processing of wood, sewing of clothes, production of ceramic articles and souvenirs, and production of furniture are also well developed.

Business Information Center of Siauliai District is located and successfully develops its activities in Kuršėnai town (Kuršėnai, J.Basanavičiaus St. 7, tel. +370 41 584486, vic@siauliai-r.sav.lt.). The director of Business Information Center is Kristina Duseikaitė. The Center provides to the companies consultations about taxes, legal, business development issues, and information about active companies and developed branches of economy.

            The Businessmen Association of Siauliai District holds meetings at the center. This Association can intermediate, starting a new business in Siauliai district, gives the proposals regarding possible intercommunication.
